The History Of Bikes

Most of us have ridden on a motorbike at one time or one more. The concept for their design came from the development of the bicycle. I guess people had been trying to find a faster method to move their bicycle along, or perhaps a single that wasn’t as physically exerting for them. The first motorbike each and every made is credited to Gottllieb Daimler in 1885. This gas powered motorcycle was basically a gas engine attached to a standard bicycle. However, Gottllieb decided not to pursue generating motorbikes and pick instead to focus on manufacturing cars.

Throughout this time period, a lot of other individuals were also tinkering with the motorbike concept. A couple from the men behind this experimenting ended up William Harley and Arthur Davidson. You guessed it, the dynamic duo behind the amazing line of Harley-Davidson motorbikes that have become well-liked all around the world because 1903.

Persons had been very interested in this convenient mode of transportation because it was very economical. The public loved the idea of motorized transportation, but cars have been still a lot more high priced than most people could afford. Nevertheless, some men and women soon realized that they would need to invest in a car rather than a motorbike to be able to transport their entire family.

A couple of of these motorcycle pioneers ended up able to successfully establish corporations including Harley-Davidson. Nevertheless, several never had the cash to start off the venture correctly and make it prosperous. Others left to go fight in the war and still other people went bankrupt trying to marketplace their motorcycle ideas throughout the Depression.

A single downfall to motorbikes within the 1950’s is that you had to have a fantastic understanding of mechanics to be capable to operate 1. The American bike manufacturers didn’t pursue producing advances in that department until they started facing competition from Japan. They developed the electric start system that motorbikes provide currently. This important feature allowed motorbikes to transform from little mopeds and scooters to powerful machines.

American motorcycle suppliers did not see Japanese bikes as a threat, but this was as serious miscalculation on their part. It didn’t take long for American suppliers to realize that they were losing shoppers for the Japanese current market. This lead for the introduction of many new types to prevent them from losing additional in the current market. Baby boomers continued to obtain Japanese bikes as they offered more power and had been sold at an excellent price.

Motorcycles have certainly changes given that their introduction. Currently, the marketplace is saturated with brand names which are well known inside motorcycle business. Each a single provides a variety of models to choose from too as unique styles and designs. Regardless from the type of motorcycle you are interested in, you’re certain to find a single while using features and energy you might be in search of.

As the top motorbike companies continue to strive to come up with types that will please the consumer while out shining their competitors, you can have even additional choices. As technology advances you might find quicker, a lot more durable, and less pricey motorcycle alternatives on the market. Harley-Davidson continues to become from the top position, selling much more motorcycles than any other manufacturer. In reality, the majority of their bikes are sold before they even leave the factory. Although they remain 1 of the most expensive motorcycle producers, shoppers are willing to pay for the high quality along with the power behind them.

When it comes towards the motorbike business, customers have come to learn that quality and reliability are more crucial than saving a couple of dollars along the way. A motorbike is usually a big investment, and buyers want to become happy with the product they choose. The issue of brand name loyalty also comes into play with bikes. Because every manufacturer now provides a full line of several versions and types of motorbikes, there is no reason why you can’t obtain both the brand and the style you are seeking.

American Chopper: Senior vs Junior Episode 2

As we all know Paul Jr managed to snag a bike deal with Geico and unveiled not one but two bikes at Sturgis 2 weeks ago. See the story on my Choppers blog: http://www.chopperssite.com/index.php/orange-county-choppers/paul-jr-to-be-at-sturgis

Pics of the bikes can be found here: http://katesdon.wordpress.com/2010/08/14/paul-jr-designs/

Last night’s American Chopper episode focused on Junior’s failed attempts to get a client for Paul Jr Designs, and his filling his new shop with lots of idle equipment. Is it just me or have these first two episodes been edited in such a way to make Jr look like a failure? Numerous scenes have been Paul Sr. discussing how much of a failure Paulie is since he’s left the shop.

Obviously he did manage to snag one client at least that we know of but I question whether TLC is deliberately trying to slant the show in Sr’s favor, especially since OCC is the show’s bread and butter or if Paulie really does have no clue what he’s doing business-wise.

One thing I will say is this: instead of looking for clients to contract a build for, a real business man would have been building bikes anyway and trying to sell them for a profit while he looked for contract jobs. Is this exactly what senior means when he says Paulie wants everything handed to him: a contract to build bike before he gets his hands dirty. Image if you tried to open a shop that way. “Well we haven’t built any bikes yet, but would you like to order one?” I think you’d fail.

And while I believe it’s bit of stretch for Paul Sr. to say Paulie’s trying to ride on OCC’s coattails, it is obvious that the shop is not hurting with out him there. Kind of makes you wonder if that’s why Sr. brought in Jason Pohl when he did; so he would have good designer on staff when he finally had to fire Paulie?

I just wish this new version of the show was more about building bikes and less about the family issues.
