Query by madjennyvane: How do I lace up the windshield of a Harley Davidson?
My dad is restoring a coworkers Harley for her pal who survived breast cancer. The bike use to be green, but now it’s two-toned white and pink with a pink ribbon on the front fender. It really is really great! My dilemma is finding the lace function proper on the windshield perimeter. The laces are a mauve color to match the bike. I have all the laces, I feel there are 13 or 14 laces, for each side, to go through the holes and then two far more, genuinely prolonged laces that ties each and every side with each other. I need to have to know how to tie these on given that my dad did not shell out attention to it when he took them off! Any assist, a internet site or book, would truly be appreciated! Thanks!

I’ve never heard of lace on the perimeter of a windshield, almost sounds dangerous, interfering with vision like that. Hate to have someone survive one Big C just to get killed by another (car, crash, camper, Caterpillar, culvert, Camaro. Cadillac, etc).
BUT if you insist, I would think one would tie a knot in this lace stuff so it can’t pull through the hole on the end, then pull it tight and tie a knot on the other end, then readjust so it’s tight on both sides. If the material the lace it made out of is too thin to not pull through the hole with a simple knot, then maybe use a concho or something as a decorative reinforcement, or tie a larger fancier knot (maybe like a survivor ribbon??), use your imagination.

Go to:

http://www.tandyleather.com

There, find a retail store near you. The people working there are knowledgeable in leather working, and might be able to show/suggest different lacing techniques that you might be able to use.

I do know that National Cycle makes windshields with and without fringe. I don’t know who they sell through besides JC Whitney. Their website is: nationalcycle.com. You might be able to get something from their tech support. I didn’t see anything in the downladable installation instructions (the fringe is probably put on at the factory), but I didn’t ask either.
